Strategic Learning Consulting: Apple Computer

Sarah Zaner

The Strategic Learning Consulting Practice (SLC) at SRI International offers consulting services for aligning business and development objectives with educational goals. SLC’s initial engagement with Apple Computer focused on strengthening Apple’s pre- and post-sales support to their 1 to 1 Computing customers. 1 to 1 computing initiatives provide laptop computers and Internet access to entire classrooms of students. These initiatives are growing rapidly across the globe, and in the U.S. many districts are implementing 1 to 1 computing programs for whole grades or schools.

Apple's primary objective in this project was to respond to their 1 to 1 customers' need to demonstrate progress to community stakeholders in a timely and compelling way. SRI worked closely with Apple Education and their customers, through interviews and facilitated meetings, to determine the most robust solution Apple could offer. Acting on the outcome of this collaborative exploration, SRI developed the tools for a 1 to 1 computing self-evaluation that Apple could deliver to their customers. SRI then conducted a training session for Apple salespeople and key customers to ensure successful implementation of the toolkit.
