Developing a New National Educational Technology Plan

Barbara Means, Marianne Bakia, Ed Dieterle, Hannah Lesk

The Center for Technology in Learning is helping the U.S. Department of Education develop a new National Educational Technology Plan to provide a vision for the use of information and communication technologies in transforming American education. The plan will provide a set of concrete goals that can inform state and local educational technology plans as well as inspire research, development, and innovation. SRI has convened a working group of education and technology scholars and leading practitioners from the field to support the development of the Plan. It is also using Web 2.0 approaches in a web site (https://edtechfuture.org) where the preliminary thinking of the working group is being made available to the public and members of the public have the opportunity to identify specific technologies and exemplary technology implementations for consideration by the Plan authors.
