Teresa Lara-Meloy
Mathematics Education Researcher
Teresa Lara-Meloy's is a mathematics education researcher in The Center for Technology and Learning at SRI International. Her present focus is the professional development of mathematics teachers and professional developers (in and out of school, on- and off-line). In CTL, Ms. Lara-Meloy is working on designing curriculum and professional development opportunities for students, teachers, and professional development leaders. She has designed workshops for professional development providers, teacher workshops using SimCalc, created a 15-week for middle school girls to design their own computer game, and co-designed an intensive summer workshop for middle school teachers on argumentation in coordinate geometry. One of her recent workshops was a 2-day seminar with 50 MSP providers in Texas on Mathematics Knowledge for Teaching. She observes schools and classrooms for evaluation projects and provides research-based recommendations to some of CTL's corporate clients. Prior to working at SRI, Ms. Lara-Meloy was a technical assistance provider for the America Connects Consortium at EDC, and a mathematics researcher with TERC. Being a dual citizen, she also has recent experience working and teaching in Mexico.
