Torie Gorges
Research Social Scientist
Torie Gorges is a research social scientist in the Center for Technology in Learning at SRI International. Her evaluation experience includes work in both formal and informal learning environments and uses both qualitative and quantitative methods. Since 2005, she has been working on the formative evaluation of Build IT, a technology fluency program for middle school girls, and she had led Build IT evaluation efforts since 2006. Torie has led evaluation of the Intel Teach Getting Started program, an introductory technology course for teachers, and she worked on evaluation of Intel Learn, a community-center-based technology program for youth. Additionally, Torie has managed the Microsoft Innovative Schools Program evaluation, a multinational effort working toward school reform and integration of technology into classrooms. In 2006-2007, she co-led SRI’s evaluation of the HERO program, which aims to enable college access for low-income youth in Washington State.
