Marianne Bakia
Senior Education Researcher
Marianne has been active in the educational technology research and development community for 10 years as a program evaluator, policy analyst, and project director. She has led several evaluations of education technology projects in the United States and abroad, in both K12 and higher education settings. Her work at the Federation of American Scientists focused on edtech research and development policy, and she worked with national edtech leaders to encourage educational innovation. As an education specialist with the World Bank, she assisted client countries with the development of national educational technology projects, including field work in Turkey, Nigeria, and Mexico. In addition, Marianne was a key contributor to the PCAST Panel on Education Technologies: Report to the President and a principle organizer of the Learning Federation. She has published several articles on the cost and cost-effectiveness of technology in education, particularly in developing countries, and on the economic development role of community colleges in the United States.
